Dear all,
Prof.Srinivasan, me and Parthan conducted a two day workshop on
FOSS at Sri Ramakrishna Engg college, Coimbatore on 5th and 6th of
Jan 07. About 60-70 faculty members from about 10 colleges and about
100 students attended the workshop.
We did the following topics
a. Intro to FOSS
b. Installation (debian)
c. Basics of desktop,command line
d. 1/2 practical session in the Lab(
The students installed Linux in over 50 system before
commencement of seminar without our help. An appreciable
work.)
e. Qt designer
b. Basic networking stuff like ssh,ftp,nfs etc
e. Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP)
f. Linux High Availabiltiy with heartbeat+drbd
g. Introduction to scripting language - perl
The level of interest shown by them was high. I am sure we can
see good level of FOSS activity in this college in future.

for the conducting the workshop and giving LUG an opportunity.
