in single user mode
1) fdisk -l
it shows all the partition
now use fsck -r <partitions>
eg
fsck -r /dev/hda2
it will solve your problem

Hi all,
I am unable to boot my system, neither Linux nor
Win2k. When I
boot It shows loading GRUB and statys there. When
boot from Ubuntu
Live CD(Kernel 2.6.7) it says this message.

My machine has MDK 10.1 with XFS as / file
system and ext2 as
/boot file system. It has win2k with fat32.
What does this mean ?. Is there any chance of
recovering data. I
need both Win2k and Linux partitions. Dont consider
the option of
approaching a data recovery service provider.
