I do have the mentioned DVD. But, i wish to do the mirroring for my
future need. I have tried to continue mirroring on top of that DVD
image and i believe, it has got corrupted.

I have tried it with rsync.  The mirroring is in progress. But, it is
not usable. As when i do apt-get, it reports the packages are missing
even though they are available out there.

Be patient :-)  I think what happens is the dependencies are updated,
then apt-get will keep looking for the latest versions of packages
which might not be there because your rsync has not completed.

Also, I assume you have done a 'apt-get update' ...
