this is true. i installed almost all the software that comes with
Fedora Core 5. no other than this, i have not installed any software
that is not free. even, i use VMware which is now a open source in
beta stage.
I know people using many non-free software on GNU/Linux, like Komodo
for editing, Adobe Acrobat reader for reading PDF files, etc.
i never use Komodo. i use the built-in development tools like vi or emacs

Do you have Sun Java on your GNU/Linux machine? If you answer a yes,
you need to reconsider/rephrase your "Linux is ..." statement.
i have sun java and also gnu java. even sun provides linux version of
jdk and jre. it is free right.
