Which would you choose for a Setup Box running MythTV ?
D-1 Stepping Celeron or a Sempron?
a) If constrained by cost, choose the Northwood D1 - it will work on just
about any P4 board, so the cost of CPU + motherboard < Rs.6k.
b) If not constrained by cost, go for the mobile Sempron 2800+ with a
Socket-754 board - this will give a potentially higher-performance system
at a higher cost, very good thermals, and possible future upgradability
to Athlon-64 Turions and dual-cores.
c) The Socket-A 333FSB Sempron has poorer performance, runs hotter and
has limited upgradability in the future - Socket-A is reaching its end-
of-life. I wouldn't recommend it except on the basis of cost (~Rs.4k).
d) Tualatin Celerons are still an excellent choice, paired with an i810E or
i815E for about Rs.3k each (Boards seem to be short supply, not the CPUs).
