[Ilugc] Clean URLs in drupal

Hi,
I'm a newbie to drupal. I'm unable to enable 'Clean URLs' in my local
machine.
From phpinfo(), I see that mod_rewrite is enabled. But the "Clean URLs
test" in drupal fails with the message "The clean URL test failed."
What am I missing? I'm using drupal 7.12 with LAMP stack in Ubuntu.
