Carte Blanche 2005 is kind of a dream come true.
But we do not want to rest on that. The event was a success but for
public turnout. But we learnt a lot from it. MITians got benefitted
immnsely. Very soon there will be a day when MITians will look at
other "proprietary" OS and say "Hey yaar something other than Linux
also exists".There is a wide spread awareness about Linux, Software
ethics and freedom of course. I myself was awestruck when I year guys
were explaing how to configure ip tables, firewall and forget about
CSE, they were from instru, elex and other usually linux fearing
departments! Our heartfelt thanks to Raman P for making this happen,
for all the efforts he put up in inspiring and training these guys.
Our sincere thanks to all the ILUGC members who had spent their time
for CB. Please do not mind the hospitality, we could not do our best.
As mentioned by Raman we are also thinking of seperating the
demos&lectures from the contests. Our Dean was quite impressed and
hopefully we could make this a four day event - 2 for demos and 2 for
contests next year. Also he has recomended us to shift this event to
january and so a lot of school participation can be expected next
year.
We spent most of the time working out the sponsors and so we failed
marketing the event to public. And since we have established CB now,
many of the companies we approached have replied very positively to
support CB next year. So that should let our juns to market this event
on a grand scale to the students and public.
