Hello,
All modems are ethernet based only. No VPI/VCI required, it configures itself.
It is very easy to install on linux or anyother OS. Any modem which
supports pppoe(ppp over ethernet) will work

Folks:
There have been quite a few posts on ilugc in recent times stating that
BSNL broadband works fine with Linux.
I have a few questions regarding the ADSL modem options:
1. I took a look at the application form at
http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataoneform.php
The form allows me to select whether I want a modem or not. However,
it does not allow me to choose an Ethernet v. a USB modem. Do I
assume that all their modems will be Ethernet?
2. The form allows me to decline a modem. I am assuming that this means
I can supply my own. However, I am not able to locate the technical
specifications of the modem required. For example, what VPI/VCI
settings would work. Does anyone have these details?
Thanks.
Ajit
