I've seen many a flame and have myself posted saying let us avoid flaming.
I've seen such posts many a time from a few trying to correct everyone else
on Linux or GNU/Linux etc. While I like opensource and mean it in spirit, it
is quite irritating when some one keeps plugging in/nitpicking on semantics.
It is no different from flaming.
Dalda is a brand but became a generic name for cooking grease. History has
its ways. Similarly, Linux is recognised and understood by many and the
world at large as an opensource platform on which applications are
available. If I'm committing a technical blunder or spreading a lie for sake
of easy understanding, so be it. Just let others be. It does not make them
lesser mortals.
