Now, a branded PC for less than Rs 15,000

NEW DELHI, Oct. 23
YOU can now buy a branded personal computer for under Rs 15,000,
provided you are not very fastidious about Intel processors and
Windows Software. Esys Distribution Ltd, a global IT component
distributor, today launched its `ePC' at prices starting from Rs
9,990, excluding the monitor.
The ePC is powered by VIA C3 800 MHz Central Processing Unit (CPU)
and runs the free-cost Linux operating system. With a monitor, the PC
would cost below Rs 15,000 only, company officials said here.
"This PC is for a totally new segment and we are not competing with
other branded computers," said Mr Vikas Goel, Chairman and Managing
Director of the Singapore-based Esys Distribution Group. "We are
introducing this product as a concept in the market," he said.
Apart from the basic, Internet-ready model, two more versions of the
ePC are available: One at Rs 11,990 and another at Rs 16,990. Both
come without monitors.
