Impractical Laborers, it's that time of the year!
This Thursday is 7/7 and our 8th Annual Festival to Plead for Skills is
imminent.
Every summer, on the 7th day of the 7th month, ILSSA celebrates its own version
of The Festival to Plead for Skills. The festival is derived from the Chinese
holiday of Qi Xi and the Japanese festival of Tanabata, in which celebrants
wish for the betterment of their own craftsmanship. Instead of wishing, the
ILSSA festival is a holiday of practicing.
We invite all ILSSA Members to join us on July 7, 2016, and observe this
holiday by practicing a skill: using a tool, trying a method, honing a
technique. To help us cultivate and celebrate our community of practice, we ask
that you document your Festival observance through a photograph and caption,
and email these to markdown@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Thanks to Local 503 Shop JL,
your contributions will be digitally posted to the Markdown as soon as they are
received.
