Hi all,
Only a limited operation from here, as my low band antennas are unusable at
the moment.
I decided to operate the 6-hour section in this contest, as I had other
family commitments, and various household chores to do. We have just had new
windows and front door fitted, so there was some work to do on that front.
I did 3 hours on Saturday afternoon, and another 3 hours today. Yesterday
(Saturday) was better than today and I managed all 10 call areas of the US
on 20m. Today was more for hunting mults, and that seemed to work quite
nicely, although my rate was much lower. Saturday was mostly calling CQ, and
that produced some nice runs. Oddly, I could not hear any west EU countries
until late today, and I only managed to hear ONE single DL station. Even SP
was hard work!
When I started at 1215UTC today, I quickly checked 15m, and was surprised to
hear CV7S, so I worked him and an IK station, but they were the ONLY
stations I could hear on 15m. I did run CQ for a while today, but it was
very slow, so I just tuned down from 14130 to 14080 and worked as many
stations as I could hear.
There were some very loud stations that just were not hearing anything that
were calling them.
