PCB forum, Les Wong and Paul L.:

Paul, yes it sounds like you have the details exactly correct. Yes, it is
MS-Ware developed and introduced by the French team and it will cost Extra,
just to recap. your statement again. I saw a demonstration of the tool last
week: if it is SKILL based that is fine, but it is running directly and
interactively from within Allegro just as if you were managing an Allegro
design. It will do exactly what you need to compose a panelized array
constructed in-house: added mechanical parts( ie. pre-defined detail
drawings, etc.), drop in text-from file, dimensioning, (mirroring, rotating,
stepping of PCB images, also different PCB images), automated but manual
invocation for the updating of added features, (but still the same convention
as updating to master library), After a few pointed questions, it appears that
there are a few deficiencies that are presently being addressed and 1or 2
aspects that could justify Service Requests for enhancement. Perhaps, that is
why Cadence may b!
e keeping it low on the radar, for now. But I really liked what I saw since it
adequately fills that long-standing gap! I have been on and off this tool set
since 1997 and the final post processing has always needed more attention;
perhaps now it is debut-time. If it is not prime time now, it seems very very
close, perhaps as soon as a breather follows the 15.2 release. We will
certainly see.

Sincerely yours,

Talked to Cadence about ObjectCam. It seems that it's a SKILL program developed
by their people in Paris. They market various SKILL tool options under the name
msWare. It is not free either.

FYI....
When I loaded 15.x (I loaded all of the products and I believe this loaded
with the OrCAD stuff) a program called IntelliCAD 2001 was loaded on my
machine. It looks like a simple mechanical CAD package.....
It loaded in "D:\cadence\PSD_15.1\IntelliCAD 2001\icad.exe"

It does not seem to require a license....

Michael:
I don't see anything about ObjectCam on
the Cadence web site ?
