William, The Cadence tool for switching the versions has some major limitations, due to the way that they install their s/w: It wasn't until 15.x that the changed the PATH entries from explicit pathnames to using %CDSROOT% I opened a service request on having the start menu shortcuts changed the same way, R&D said they won't change it :-( They should make the same change to the file associations, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it... I opened a service request on the same issue with the component browser not finding the symbols via the PSMPATH a couple of months ago, they were unable to give me any reason for it not working, I'll update it to denote that other customers are having the same issue... ________________________________ From: icu-pcb-forum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icu-pcb-forum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of William Billereau Sent: Saturday, October 15, 2005 12:58 AM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Re: 15.5 new features?? Hello. I found the problem (thanks Helen!): In fact I use the new Cadence tool to switch the version. So the PATH variable was pointing to 15.5 but I always launch projmgr by clicking on a .cpm file. And this file association was linked to projmgr 15.2. So it was starting from 15.2 but with 15.5 DDLs and it caused a conflict (but working) between both versions: For example the startup splash screen contains a text saying 15.5 and inside the Cadence logo, it says 15.2.... Now it is 15.5 everywhere and it works fine: copy paste, new component browser and PDF output... Just a question: how to set the path to PSM (I have a PSMPATH in pcbenv) to avoid the message in Component browser: footprint not found (and not displayed too, of course)... Thanks in advance. Hello all. The What's new in 15.5 shows that one of new features is the ability of copying schematic parts from a design to another with copy/paste. Clipboard Support for Design Entry HDL Schematics Allegro Design Entry HDL 15.5 provides support for industry standard copy and paste feature, which enables you to copy and paste parts of a schematic from one design to another. In addition, you can copy text and bitmaps from text editors and graphics editors, respectively, to the schematic canvas. You can also paste previously entered commands in the console window for repeated execution. (This is not really new!) While copying schematic parts, if there are signal name clashes, a two-column dialog box containing current signal names and Allegro Design Entry HDL-recommended signal names appears When I have downloaded the first release of 15.5, I can access this feature. Few month later, an ISR was available. It took it... the feature wasn't there again. I now took the latest ISR on sourcelink and the feature is always not there..... Does somebody see it or Cadence forgot to implement it? ;-) I tried with Allegro Project Manager?Design Entry HDL and Allegro PCB SI 610/Allegro Design Entry HDL 610 I also did not see the new part browser...., Concept always crashes with PDF plotter output.... William.
