hi.
I go to copy a folder structure onto my thumb drive. it has two folders in it,
the folders together contain about 18 files. It keeps getting stuck at 43
percent when I go to move them. I tried several times. Then I tried moving a
folder at a time. I discovered itg was my history folder. The history contains
one larger file of about 1.2mb. I think it was getting stuck on that. I decided
to copy everything but that. I think maybe it wasn't geting stucki, it was just
takeing ages to copy, which is unacceptible, why does it copy so slowly, and
when you move files on the hard drive, why does it take a long time, how come
it doesn't just change the lookup info for it like windows does. notice, that
even if you cut and paste several gb of files on the computer it happens
instantaniously because windows doesn't actually moves them, it just tells it
where they should be from now on. When you copy and paste files on the braille
plus while it's in disk drive mode the same is true, it happens
instantaniously. Turn the braille plus on and copy them with it, it takes ages.
Even copying simple little text files, you can notice it takes like a second to
copy a text file of only like 3kb. That's pretty bad. I'm aware that the 1st
opperatin like this is slightly slower because of the need to spin up the hard
drive. I still think it takes longer than it should. Especially to copy stuff
onto the jump drive, even though it's only USB1.1. Today I should have been
able to throw that little folder, only about 1.4mb in size, that contained 4
folders, about 18 text files, onto that jump drive in no more than 20 seconds
at the most, but I got stuck of all things. Wound up taking about 20 minutes to
actually get them on there. A significant chunk of the class period I have to
do that.
