What external source was it? Was it network or external drive--e.g., thumb
drive, MiniSD?

I saw something sort of similar to this happen when I updated a
couple individual feeds in the rss program and after it finished
updating I checked out the podcasts list available and then told
it to download the podcasts. I got that little finish twitter
sound that normally comes when a process is complete immediately
after starting the download function. When I checked though, the
files had just started downloading and they continued doing so
until the process was actually complete, several minutes later.
Guess this is just another little bug to be looked at later.
