Michael, what a great thing!

I grew up near Champaign, IL and although I am now in Austria, I really had
fun listening to my friends' and parents' local weather forecast. What a
great resource when travelling around the States; thanks for sharing such a
wonderful idea!

Mike

Subject: [icon-discuss] Your Braille+/iCon Can be a NOAA Weather Radio

Here's a cool idea. Load the browser of your Braille+/iCon and go to
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/streamaudio.htm and look for your city in the
list of online NOAA stations. When you find it, click on the link for your
city. If you are prompted to either 1, open the file or 2, save the file,
choose 1.

The Braille+/iCon will respont that "the file will be open after it has been
downloaded" and your audio player should load. After a second or two the
NOAA Weather Station for your area should start playing.

Now this is cool, but lets take this one step further.

Close your audio player and return to the browser.

Click on the same link you were just listening to, but this time choose 2.

Save the file on your hard drive in whatever folder you wish. Be sure to
change the filename to reflect something useful that you'll be able to find.
Many filenames from this site look something like this:

louisville.mp3.m3u

Leave the .m3u on the end of the file, but change the rest to whatever you
wish.

When you have that done, navigate to the file you saved and click on it.

With any luck, your audio player will load and you should hear the NOAA
Weather Station for your area. Now, anytime you want weather information,
its available. Just turn on the wireless and click on this file.

I have tested most of these links and have found that the Braille+/iCon can
play most of them. There are a few that play direct from a browser, these
will NOT play with the Braille+iCon. Many cities have an alternate link, if
the first one doesn't work, try this one.

Man this device rocks!
