Thanks. I do think I'll be looking at the Icon because I'm faster at texting and so forth. I will be adding another question here in about 30 seconds but it'll have to be in another thread so keep on the lookout for that.Hi Rob. the neat thing about the icon is, you'll be able to use thumb braille. If you're not familiar with that, see the manual, for which I have a direct link I'd be happy to send you. I have it marked as a favorites in my browser.------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jun 2008 03:35:07 -0500 From: drummershane@xxxxxxxxxx To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: One last question (was RE: Question for Braille Plus users - forgot one item I wanted to add) Hi. Just my 2 cents here, but it's probably like exercise in a way. the more you do it, the better and faster you will become. To answer your question though, yes such a task can be accomplished. of course, this may depend on the size of your fingers, as to how tired or cramped they might become. I would say, if you start to tire, take a breather. Bear in mind, too, that you can hook up a u s b or a bluetooth qwerty keyboard, thereby not limiting yourself to the braille keyboard. Just my thoughts. I have one last question. How is the Braille Plus' keyboard for extended typing? For example, I recently wrote a 3000 word, 21 page, essay (as a proposal for getting this device); could such a task be accomplished on this unit and if so how much fatigue would it cause? I'm not super speedy in my Brailling but I'm also no slow poke, so I guess you could put my Brailling speed at the middle for reference (my speed slows down with Grade 2 but is slowly increasing). > From: chase.crispin@xxxxxxxxx <mailto:chase.crispin@xxxxxxxxx> > Date: Sun, 1 Jun 2008 10:03:11 -0500 > To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > CC: > Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: Question for Braille Plus users - forgot one item I wanted to add > > Almost all of the conpands have not changed. o Chord is still the options menu, e chord is still okay, etc. > On Sun, 1 Jun 2008 03:02:05 -0700, Rob Lambert wrote: > > > > >One plus I'm looking at for the Braille Plus is that it looks like the bulk of > >the commands have carried over from the Braille 'n Speak from what I've heard. > >For those of you who have transitioned from the Braille 'n Speak to the Braille > >Plus, exactly how many commands have stayed and how many have been replaced? > >Make every e-mail and IM count.
