Hi Orin,
Sounds like a reset is in order. If you take the cover off the
battery, there is a small hole next to the battery with a reset
button in it. You can press this button with a headphone jack. Press
it for five seconds or so. When you let go, the unit will vibrate
once. Then it will vibrate again and start talking 30 seconds to a
minute after you pressed Reset.
