These are called Super Mini Sound Box. Here are links to a few reviews. if
folks are interested. I recommend reading these to get a perspective. Be
sure to maximize your window or make sure the links appear on the same line.
These are, of course, subjective reviews. They can also be purchased for
about $15

Don't mean to suggest that the review on this list is worng. But, I always
like to compare different perspectives.

with not so good hearing...

Hi everyone,

I think that one of the things which put me over the top for buying the Icon
was the fact that it had speakers... not just a speaker but a pair of stereo
speakers. They are just perfect and being able to switch to the earppiece
speaker is just fantastic extra gravy so to speak. I have found myself using
the earpiece speaker more than I ever thought I would. But, still the stereo
speakers sound pretty good in many situations.

Anyway, I just bought something completely amazing. It is a tiny stereo
speaker that plugs directly into any mp3 player. It works very nicely with
the Icon... and if you have a little trouble hearig the Icon's speakers...
this thing is just perfect. It sounds really, really good. I'm a musician,
and I wouldn't lie about something like this. There is no bass to speak of,
but the way they've engineered the thing, it still sounds fantastic. I
would even use the word awesome if it weren't so thoroughly over used by the
younger generation. :-)

Now, when I say it is portable and tiny... I don't think you are really
getting my meaning.... I mean this thing is teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy, really
small. It is as small as a very small thing. :-) And that wouldn't usually
count for much but everyone on this list seems to want portable in a big
way. Me too. So, I'm telling you about it.

I haven't measured the sound output, but if you have the Icon on it's second
to loudest setting... in other words just before it says loudest... and you
listen to a song for a bit, and then plug this little rascal into the
earphone jack, the sound is going to seem about 10 times louder... and there
will be no added distortion. You will probably want to turn the sound
down... something you don't often do with the Icon.

It weighs about 50 grams with the battery, and isn't bigger than an inch and
a half square I would guess. The internal lithium ion battery charges with a
supplied USB cable. It charges off your computer.

Honestly, if you are interested in this tiny speaker set...
I would get one now... because I'm going to make a small prediction. This is
without doubt going to be *the* Christma present of 2007. I'm betting that
in a short while, you won't be able to find one for love or money.

They cost $29 and I found mine at

www.gadgetuniverse.com

Their phone number is 800-429-0039. They were very helpful and can tell you
all about this thing.

I bought two, but I'm going to buy about half a dozen more to give out as
the premiere stocking stuffer. Anywone with an iPod or mp3 player will
simply love this gadget.

Like I say, I love the Icon's built-in speakers, but this just puts your
songs and books out there for everyone to hear, say on a car trip, or
anywhere really.

Boy, this company should pay me to be their spokesperson... I would sell a
million of them.... which I'm sure they're going to do anyway.

Enjoy.

P.S. Important. This device just plugs into your Icon or Braille Plus. It
is very very small, but you should treat your Icon or BP very gingerly when
it is plugged in. I would hate to be the cause if anyone breaking their
earphone jack because this little speaker system gets jounced or bashed or
bent over, etc. For me, it is just plug it in and lay the unit down and
listen. Actually, I've been putting it in my shirt pocket for my morning
walks. It is so nice to be able to hear the birds and animals as well as the
book I'm listening to... and I'm out in the country so it certainly doesn't
bother anyone. You're going to find some great uses for this speaker, too,
wait and see.

By the way, it is called the Supermini Speaker Box. And it's model number is
TA464.

P.S. - If you want more bass, but not that much more... there is a 19.95
collapsible pair of spekers at Radio Shack. They can also be plugged into AC
if you buy an adaptor. They run on 3 AA batteries. I like their sound, but
it is not that much better than the sound from this little Supermini, and
they are virtually gigantic by comparison being about 4 inches by 3 inches
by 2 inches thick (just guessing here). They are just a whole 'nother thing
to carry around and find space for in your pack. This Supermini would fit
anywhere and still have room to put a couple more them there, too.
