For your first question, the easiest way, I think, is either:
1) Use a flash drive: Connect a flash drive (or MINI SD card) to the
unit and copy over the files.
2) Use disc drive mode.
As for the Gmail, I've downloaded a few thousand messages. It became
extremely sluggish for a good hour or so while it downloaded all the
messages. Understandable, of course. Deleting them was not a fun
process-I pressed menu, opted for select all, pressed enu again, and
chose to move messages to trash. Or delete, I'm not quite sure. After
all messages are moved (that will take awhile, by the way), just delete
everything inside trash. Worked fine for me.
