For those of you considering whether to buy an Icon or Braille Plus: The most important thing for deciding which to get needs to be how you want to interface with the unit, as this will be the thing that most impacts your daily use of it. If you are a Braille user, and want a Braille keyboard directly on the unit, you should probably get a Braille Plus. If you prefer to use the telephone keypad and navigational keys, and wish to have a larger, easier to feel layout, you probably want an Icon. You also want to think about whether or not you would like Qwerty access. In other words, ifyou are not a proficient Braille user, but intend to use the unit heavily as a note taker, you will probably want the Icon and docking station. If you are a proficient Braille user, or are learning Braille, and want both keyboard options, you might want a Braille Plus and then a Qwerty docking station when it is available. Of course support and repair times are important considerations, but we hope you won't need to utilize either often, and what is most important is what is most efficient for your personal use on a daily basis. Please remember that, the keyboards are the only differences between the units, the software, hardware specifications, and onboard learning tools are the same for both units. In addition, all users of both units have access to this and other lists as well as all the online learning tools from both companies. For those of you who have read and heard accounts of lengthy repair and ship times in recent months, please remember the message Michael posted to the announce list to the affect that there have been some parts availability issues that have affected both the timely shipping and repair of both Icons and Braille Pluses. Again, these issues have affected both units. Also, please note that these issues are currently being address/resolved. Thanks for reading, and no matter which unit you choose, I hope it serves you well. Jenny Axler
