To read an email attachment do the following:
Open the message, and press the Menu key.
Choose option 6, Attachments.
You'll be presented with a list of attachments to the email, press Select on
the one you want to access.
You are presented with two options: 1, open, and 2, save. If you want to save
the attachment on the hard drive for easier access later, choose Save. If you
just want to open it and read it once, choose Open, and the program associated
with that file type (in the case of an RTF, the Word Processor) will be
launched, and the file will be opened.
