Hello Catherine:

There are some machines that have gages that will stick at 81% or 83% when
checking battery status. However, that doesn't mean it isn't fully charging.
Even with the faulty reporting, the charging circuit is still operational, so
the battery will still charge. So, the best way to know if it's fully charged
is to disconnect from AC and check the battery level. If the battery is good,
it will charge to 100%, even though the gage may report otherwise. If you are
getting 95%, that is pretty good, too. If it's 90% or less, then I'd probably
replace it. Since you're in between, you may or may not have a bad battery
cell.

A battery should fully charge within 2 hours, if the unit is not in use--it may
take longer if the unit is being used.

How much you get out of the battery depends on the operation. For instance, if
you are using the text speech and nothing else, you may get 12 hours. However,
if you are listening to audio files, then the battery life will be closer to 4
hours. Wireless usage may only give you about 2 hours. So, as you can see, it
all depends on how the unit is being used as to how much you get.

As Blake has already suggested, you could run the battery all the way down and
try charging it again. If it still only charges to 93%, you could possibly
have a bad cell--although, as long as it charges to the 90's, that is pretty
good. However, you might try replacing the battery and see if that gives you
best performance.

These are lithium batteries and they cannot be over charged, however, it is not
necessary to leave it plugged in for 24 hours.

Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Subject: [icon-discuss] BP battery life

Just curious.

My BP was charging for over 24 hours and the battery level still says "83%
charging."

After disconnecting from the AC adaptor, it says "93% battery operated."

Does the BP not charge completely? Could there be something wrong with my
battery? How long does it take to fully charge the battery and how long
will it last once fully charge?

Thanks,
Catherine Jacob
