Dear Ms. Kyriacou, Ms. Hathazi and Ms. Pronay,
On behalf of the Board and President of ICEVI-Europe, Mrs. Leotsakou, I
would like to extend our congratulations for the Report of the Mapping Exercise
carried out by the Commission for Persons with Additional Disabilities of the
European Blind Union in close colaboration with ICEVI-Europe.
It is a thorough and comprehensive report that provides
greater insight on the current situation of visually impaired persons with
additional disabilities throughout Europe, with regard to their needs, problems
and challenges, and highlighting the type of provisions and services, along
with Best Practices that various countries offer to this group of people.
We are confident that many organizations, institutions and policy makers will
find the recommendations contained therein to be of great importance and use in
order to develop programs aimed at achieving social inclusion for persons with
visual impairments and additional disabilities,
We would also like to take this opportunity and thank all of the
National Representatives and Members of ICEVI-Europe for their participation
and willingness to cooperate and take part in this mapping exercise.
Please be rest assured we will disseminate this report on the
ICEVI-Europe website, as well as, make an announcement in our upcoming December
Newsletter Issue.
