We kindly request for your attention with this problem of a lack of
availability of accessible reading material for students in the schools
of
Kurdistan. In the event that any of you have story books in English for
blind children, especially English stories for children with
uncontracted
braille, or any other educational books/reference materials that their
Main
Library needs to replenish the English section for blind persons that
they
will be opening (please see list of items below), and which you can send
and
provide for the blind children in Kurdistan, please inform Mr. Mustafa
in
copy to Hans Welling (wellingja@xxxxxxxxx) and Martha Gyftakos
(mgyftakos@xxxxxxxxx).

Hi:
let me explain to you our blind -right situation :
our region facing big problems economic ,so for more than 3 years the
local
Authority less the salary for each employers in different s ministries
to
the quarter , and they neglect every services for the community
including
the blind -right
we have a primary school and secondary school we are Kurdish people and
the
main language in our region are Kurdish language
but we learning and teaching English Arabic languages in our education
process in general
the local authority before was printing education braille books for the
school but now they neglect that
so,iam trying at least for English children stories in braille for the
blind
students out site our region,
This shall be a select collection of different s educational
reference
material for children and aims towards promoting education in the
visually
impaired community with more focus towards the rural poor. This is
possible
only with the availability of accessible reading material!
different educational books/reference materials for students
education.
These books will be in Braille and distributed to the blind
schools/colleges/individuals - there are 30 blind schools in Kurdistan
region Iraq that are actively serving children from rural communities
-In Kurdistan, we use uncontracted braille The reason that we don't
know
about contracted braille is that no one knows about contracted braille
or
used or learned.
-
we capitalize letters in braille. We put dot 6 before the letter .
In English it is a must to have capitalization in some cases so this
is
not missed in braille here as well
We use double sided for the braille pages
it come to me several braille books from USA ,so i contact our main
library
that belong to the local authority ,they agree for opening
an English section for blind person to be benefit for them
the library needs
-teaching literacy braille books
-teaching education drawing braille
-how write in braille the notes of music etc..
-they needs computer ,smart glasses with voices for reading other books
for
the blind reader
-we have blind people who love music and they are music team they are
asking
for how learning music through braille books
-smart glasses for reading books by blind readers
for the school they needs the uncontracted braille in English stories
for
children
and if you have other education materials like TACK-TILES Braille
Systems
