Call for patent disclosure:

No one declared a patent.

-----
Opens:

-------------
Review of ARs:

- Mike document VHDL macro library and post to web site
Some progress, but not yet done.

- Arpad: Write parameter passing syntax proposal for a possible BIRD
TBD - On hold, Arpad returns in 4 weeks

- EDA vendors provide an outline of new proposal
  Done. Slides will be presented.

-------------
New Discussion:

Proposal update from EDA vendors:
- Parameter syntax was already shared at DesignCon summit.
  - Reserved parameters vs. user-defined parameters
  - Reserved parameters may avoid the need to ship an executable
- Agilent would like to join the proposal definition effort
  - There will be a session to get Agilent up to speed
  - Will be talking with semiconductor vendors soon (IBM and TI)
- Michael Mirmak pointed out that documents must be public.
  - EDA vendors will submit documents soon
  - Agilent will hear the info sooner by joining the semconductor vendor call.
- Agilent would like Cisco to be involved

Outline presentation shared through LiveMeeting:
- Proposed models would not be referenced by [External Model].
- Radek asked how willing IP vendors would be to offer these models.
  - Michael Mirmak does not know what the burden will be to do this.
  - EDA vendors can help.
- Todd felt that there is not enough consensus on if DLL is the right way.
- Vuk suggested that everything should be done in GetWave(), which should
  be generic and simple.
- Vuk asked what is special about SerDes models?
  - Todd offered that the need is for fast processing using models
    assumed to be linear.
  - Vuk felt that simplicity rather than complexity would get us there.
  - Todd also said that they might be simple Touchstone models, which would
    be even simpler.
  - Also, clock recovery is SerDes-specific.

Michael Mirmak brought up the discussion of what a general purpose
simulation tool need to do.

The EDA vendor group plans to create reference model source code:
- This would be public domain.
- The task is on the long list of things to do.

-------------
No meeting next week, to give EDA vendors time for proposal work.

Next meeting: 20 Mar 2007 12:00pm PT
