Michael,

Here are some comments on Draft 27.

1. Pg. 5, Note 2 should use "subparameters" (plural), and there is an
extra "." at the end.

2. Pg. 5, a different quote character is used surrounding the GENERAL
SYNTAX RULES AND GUIDELINES string than used elsewhere. Same thing on page 6.
On page 8, there are no quotes around the same string.

3. Pg. 6, capitalize "Selector" under Description of [End Interconnect
Model Selector]

4. Pg. 7-8, Manufacturer, Description and Param are all described as
optional subparameters. Note 1 in Table XX on pg. 4 says these are required.

5. Pg. 7 in the Unused_Terminal_Termination rules section, second
sentence, "subcircuit" is singular and "networks" is plural. These should be
consistent as singular or plural.

6. Pg. 7 in the Unused_Terminal_Termination rules section, second
paragraph, add the word "tool" after "EDA"

7. Pg. 8, first paragraph under Param rules, "IBIS-ISS" needs to be
followed by "subcircuit" in two instances

That's as far as I've gotten so far.

Thanks,
Randy

Subject: [ibis-interconn] IBIS Interconnect BIRD, Draft 27

Enclosed please find Draft 27 of the IBIS Interconnect BIRD. Note that
numerous small corrections and changes have been made, including the addition
of Mike La Bonte's drawings as well as the removal of probe support. At least
one editorial issue (highlighted in yellow in the text) remains; the technical
issue of Bus Labels vs. Die Supply Pads also still remains and will be
discussed at the meeting.

Several issues with the main IBIS specification have been revealed in the
course of editing this. They include:

1) "pin_name" does not exist in the IBIS specification for [Pin]. I propose
the following language, for [Pin]:

"The first column under the [Pin] keyword may also be referred to as the
pin_name column elsewhere in this specification."

2) "pad_name" does not exist in the IBIS specification. This is not a problem,
so long as the clarification language used in this Draft BIRD is maintained.
Some text connection to pads for multi-lingual models may also be needed.

3) "bus_label" does not exist in the IBIS specification. I propose the
following language, for [Pin Mapping]:

Replace:

"For buffers and terminators, the remaining columns correspond to the voltage
supply references for
the named pin. Each [Model] supply reference is connected to a particular bus
through a bus label
in the corresponding column."

with:

"For buffers and terminators, the remaining columns contain bus labels,
associating voltage supply references with
the named pin. Each [Model] supply reference is connected to the particular
bus named by the bus label
in the corresponding column.

These bus label values may be referred to as bus_labels or individually as a
bus_label elsewhere in this specification."
