All,
The presentation I sent out this AM with the enclosed presentation went to
IBIS-Interconnect, not IBIS-Editorial, but I think we are a subset, but
here it is again.
Things are really simple in IBIS when [GND Clamp Reference]=[Pulldown
Reference]=0.0V, and there is a "GND pin" that is associated with these
terminals in Pin Mapping. When making measurements for the IV and VT
tables the test fixture ground is connected to this pin and is the
reference voltage for all voltages in the model. When simulating, then all
voltages (including the voltage at the "GND pin") are relative to a
simulator reference node (e.g. but not necessarily Node 0). The operation
of the buffer in the simulator is dependent on the value of Si_location,
Timing_location in the IBIS [Model]. If these are at Pin, then the voltage
at the "GND pin" is the reference voltage for the voltage applied to the
IV tables and model thresholds.
What needs to become clear in the specification is when [GND Clamp
Reference] or [Pulldown Reference] are not 0. The specification must make
it clear how to hook up the test fixture and how each of the IV curves are
measured, and when simulating, how to take the voltages at the I/O
terminal and the rails terminal, and generate a voltage that goes to the
IV table and is compared to the various threshold voltages in the model.
Radek's presentation does include this as something that needs to be
resolved.
I am also including another presentation I gave a while ago that we all
should review before next week's meeting.
Here is a summary of the presentations that are being uploaded to our
editorial site that have been given in IBIS-ATM over the last year
relating to these issues:

think we should review in the standard.

Hi Mike,
I attached a pdf copy of the slides from today's meeting. Do you also need
the PowerPoint version?
