Review of Minutes:
Minutes from September 7, 2022 were reviewed. Arpad moved to approve. Bob
seconded the motion. Minutes were approved.
Review of Actions Required:
Michael reviewed ARs from the September 7, 2022 minutes.
Michael to research if a collection of sections in individual documents (a
folio) would have each section re-starting on page 1 [AR]
- Michael is still looking into the folio
Michael to work on 7.2 Draft 1 to include all items from the IBIS 7.1 known
issues document [AR]
- This AR is closed
Agenda:
Draft 1 Review:
Michael noted IBIS 7.1 known issues item 7 may be incorrect. On page 375 of
IBIS 7.1 it says that [Manufacturer] is not required in an [EMD Set]. So, the
examples noted do not need to have [Manufacturer] included. Michael did
include [Manufacturer] in the examples.
Michael noted all BIRDs are also added in the draft. The two functional issues
in the known issues document are taken care of by BIRD216 and BIRD218. Tables
for the AMI parameters are not updated yet.
Arpad noted the definition of clock_times is 1/2 UI before the sampling time.
With the new Rx_Use_Clock_Input parameter, the clock_times is the sampling
point, not a 1/2 UI shifted time point. We should consider a better
explanation for this.
In a related issue, Arpad had a question about the usage of Ignore_Bits when it
came to using the clock for an Rx model implementing Rx_Use_Clock_Input.
Walter Katz had replied with a good explanation for why EDA tools must pass in
clock_times from the DQS into the DQ model in order for DFE training to
complete. After the Ignore_Bits time, then EDA tools can start collecting
statistics. Randy noted the Rx_Use_Clock_Input Other Notes section may be the
best place to add a note about Ignore_Bits. Arpad will propose some text to be
added to this section for a possible BIRD [AR].
Arpad asked if we should consider a new parameter such as Ignore_Symbols
instead of Ignore_Bits. Michael noted this would require a parser change, so a
BIRD would be needed. "bits" was changed to "UI" in the description of
Ignore_Bits. Arpad thought this was reasonable for now.
Michael noted there has not been any editing to add descriptions of the new
features added in IBIS 7.2. The list of BIRDs is added.
Michael noted "root name" has a specific definition in section 3.1. In chapter
10, there is a different usage for AMI. Bob noted root name for file naming
definitions is a clear usage. In AMI, we could change root name to root_name,
but this would require many changes. We could add a statement in the AMI
section to note the difference in usage.
Bob will modify the tree diagram for the next draft [AR].
Arpad noted we have inconsistent usage of "Required" for many keywords. We
could work on this if we have time.
Michael noted both BIRD213 and BIRD217 touch the same paragraph (page 230 of
draft1). This needs review.
Next Meeting Scheduling:
September 21, 2022.
Arpad moved to adjourn. Bob seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 a.m. PT.
