[ian-reeds-games] CPU and sound issues in maps with a lot of activity.

Hi,

Bad strategist though I am, I am actually enjoying the user maps a lot,
especially age of warlords. However I have come across a problem that makes
life as a warlord a little less enjoyable. This probably happens to other
maps too.

Every time I play one of the larger maps for a longer amount of time such as
axis and allies or holdfast, The game starts using up a lot of CPU for
seemingly no reason. This continues even if you exit the map and go back to
the main menu. It only stops if you actually exit the entire program.
Additionally, when this happens the sounds also hang, stutter and otherwise
expand themselves tot he point where you sometimes have to listen to a
mangled, stuttering version of the sound for over half a minute. The sound
issues become increasingly worse the longer you do not exit. The CPU usage
doesn't go up even more, it just stays at this 25 to 45% usage all the time,
which seems quite excessive. It almost seems like it is caused by sounds not
unloading properly from memory or something, although that would imply
memory usage went up as well, which it does not.

This problem seems to occur when it is my opponent's turn, but like I said
it persists afterwards. It does not matter if I have the battle log on or
the other thing. Graphics are also not the issue as I have those turned off.
In holdfast I can make my opponent take one or two turns before this
happens, and I need to save my game, exit, and reload it. This is somewhat
annoying.

Has anyone else come across this problem and did they manage to fix this
somehow?
