Hi, I read your latest post of banding results with interest.
The BLVU did a number on your nets which is very unfortunate. Does anyone band
BLVU with wing tags as have been done with TUVU and CACO??
Stuart Houston and a group of Saskatchewan banders wing tagged, with green tag
white numbers/letters about 1500 TUVU. Stuart had put leg bands on years
earlier only to learn that vulture urine dissolved the aluminum band. TUVU were
taken off the list of bandable birds until the wing tag was developed and
approved for condors.
My hummingbird banding for RTHU came to an end Sept 1. Very few RTHU were
reported after Sept 5th.
Historically I presume, No flowers blooming, not food, time to leave. I ask
feeder people to leave their feeders up in good condition until mid Sept to
help the stragglers moving out and the west coast vagrants who appear
periodically.
As a newer bander, 8 yrs in, your 41 years is impressive. Have been banding
hummingbirds all this time??
