I met Stevie at Great Woods (that's how long ago) on her solo tour, very
cool person. Still the best female rock

vocalist in the world.

This happened back in MARCH - anyone hear about it?

"Rhiannon" may be the rock equivalent of Gary Sinese:

Stevie Nicks <https://www.facebook.com/stevienicks> , along with 27 Medal of
Honor recipients, was honored in Washington DC last evening at the USO-Metro
<https://www.facebook.com/USOMetroDC> 33rd Annual Awards Dinner. Nicks was
acknowledged for having spent the most hours visiting combat-wounded
servicemen and women. The award was presented to Nicks by Cpl Vincent
Mannion-Brodeur who was in a coma for over a year. Nicks has stayed in touch
with Mannion-Brodeur and his family over the years as he continued his
stunning recovery.

As part of USO Metro's Celebrity Handshake Tour, Nicks also donated hundreds
of iPods she personally programmed with music to the returning vets who she
spent time with during their recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and
Bethesda Naval Medical Center over several years.

From an FB post about this, a first-person account of her coming to visit:

I remember during one of her visits to Bethesda. I was standing as watch
commander of base security. I got a call to go to the main gate for an
authorization of access. One of my junior personnel he was fresh out of boot
camp told me someone named Steve Nicks was trying to gain access to visit
the troops. My jaw dropped as I asked him, "Stevie Nicks is over there in
that SUV?" He said, "yeah who is he?" I gave him a death glare, shook my
head at him, turned, and b-lined to the SUV.

As I approached the vehicle the driver opened his window. I said to him,
"I'm being told you have Stevie Nicks in this vehicle". The rear window
rolled down and there she was. The moment stood still for me as I couldn't
believe I was actually looking at a woman that I admired so much. Then she
said, "I sure am darling." Which snapped me back into reality.

I walked to the back window and said, "my god your even more beautiful in
person." I chuckled and said, "if you come out here and give me a hug you
can gladly have access." I then told the driver he was free to go. She said,
"thank you and what about that hug?" I told her I was just joking around.
She quickly responded that it would be her honor as she opened her door.
After a hug I shook her hands and thanked her for taking the time to come
visit the troops. I told her that it means the world to us when people take
the time out to visit these men and women who have sacrificed so much. She
went on her way and I returned to the gate to give my junior guy a history
lesson.

I'll bet he did.
