In a former life I worked for an organization that, among other things, was
active in working to prevent and interdict gang violence in Boston (Clearly
they have done a terrific job since I left the organization in 2010 🙄🙄).
Part of our on-boarding was to spend a Saturday night in the location this
system was monitored. I was standing around getting coffee and they
started telling us how, at best, it's 30% effective in ID'ing shots.
Fireworks frequently set it off and sent cops scurrying to quinceaneras
expecting to find carnage only to find gaudy dresses and bad teenage
mustaches.
I assume the technology has improved since then.
