I to believe a face to face meeting is better but we need to get this done.
If not a pub meeting then maybe a garden meet somewhere central? With those
wishing to stay away joining via Zoom. Saying that My Zoom is set and ready
for the invite either way. 😂👍

Once we have all agreed a time and date, will schedule a meeting, but
would like to get a test one setup for this Monday? Does that work? Let's
say 19:30..... will send the link to this mail chat system. If anyone has
any queries, do get in touch....

Thanks all.
I've used Zoom myself, as a participant rather than an organiser, but
didn't realise it worked well for groups as big as 20, so that should be
ok for us then. As Simon says, it's very easy to set up & use.
If we can do a group that big we may as well just hold the meeting that
way, as we still don't know what the future holds.
Tony: Thanks for volunteering 😉
Could you have a look at setting this up for a trial run please?
Next question is when would we all be around to do a Zoom chat?
As we used to have our meetings on a Monday evening, can I suggest that
for this? Maybe Monday 29th June, or 5th July.
What would be the best time? 7 or 7.30pm?
Cheers,
Andy

We use Skype at work but I am not sure if it is free?
I have used zoom before for a meeting at the De La Warr, though only as
an attendee, not an organiser.
It was very easy to install and use - most people attending, around 20 or
so, had no IT knowledge to speak of and managed to install or their
device, run, attend and contribute so it would be fine I think. You could
even have a hybrid meeting as Ralph suggested but you may not all want to
crowd round one laptop or phone?
Not great security wise but for what we are discussing and as long as we
all know that, it would be fine I think.

Andy,
I've used Zoom for family meetings around the world without any issues,
if we run over the 40 minutes, we can get round that by scheduling
several meetings one after the other.... very simple and
straightforward... account creation is free, but you don't have to have
an account to join a meeting, whoever schedules the meeting simply sends
out a link on email..... would be worth setting up a test meeting.
Requirements for computers are: anything that has a microphone and
optionally a webcam ( you can join with voice only) so phones, iPads,
laptops, pc's or webcam relies all work very well with it...
( bugger, did I just volunteer???? 🤣)

Don't shoot me for suggesting. We could do both. An outside social
distance meet, with those not wishing to attend on a live feed to a
laptop in the middle. Sounds more complicated I guess.

Simon: Which online meeting system do you use for work? Is it just
audio, or video too? We'd need it to work for approx a dozen people.
I'm happy to go down that route, for the reasons you mentioned, so we
need to explore potential online options.
So, if anyone has any ideas please say.
Don't forget Zoom is limited to around 40 minutes without paying for
it, so that's out, unless someone has an account already?
Thanks,
Andy

Would not an on-line meeting be in order?
This gets round all of the issues of safety etc. and works very well in
my experience. We use it at work all the time and I think we have more
communication now than we did when we were physically together in the
building, at least on the team I work with.
Like you say, who knows what will be sanctioned in July and if the
consensus is to remain cautious, all our experience of the recent
broadcast will be forgotten and lost. It is already quite some time
since we finished so an early meeting is preferable in my view.

Broadly speaking yes although since what Boris decides will
probably be
him making stuff up to suite whatever Cummings wants to do that
weekend (plus his track record on making the right decisions is
pretty
woeful), I won't be taking much heed of whatever he says.
Instead I'll make my own call closer to the time as to whether it
seems
like a wise idea or not. My feeling right now it's it still too soon
but we'll see.

Hi all,
As Boris still isn't allowing us the chance to meet up in person, I
propose that we wait & see what he decides to do from July 4th. I
believe this is the next date when things may change, so hopefully
we'll be able to get together after that.
If it's still not allowed from 4th July, I think we'll have to come
up with some other way of chatting about the broadcast. I don't
want
to leave it too long.
Are you all happy with that?
In the meantime have a think about what you'd like to mention: what
went well, what didn't, what we've learned from the broadcast &
what
we can use for an FM broadcast etc etc.
Cheers,
Andy
