Hi Dr. White,
Thanks so much for your response. That’s great to hear that some of the
organizations have also applied to be a part of the offering plate! I’ll work
with my team to think of what else we could do in those situations.
For next steps: How about I send you the list of organizations that have
applied so far, so that you and your team can do any vetting that seems
necessary. (I’ll keep in touch as any more applications come through also, as
the deadline is the 15th).
After you and your team have had time to look through all the applicants (and
once we’ve selected a winner for the Holiday Giving Campaign) we can meet again
to check in and see how we’re feeling about the remaining organizations. If
we’re all still feeling good about placing the non-holiday giving winners as
recipients of the offering plate one week, our team can communicate this with
the organizations that weren’t selected for Holiday Giving. If not, we can
discuss something that works — maybe only some organizations are guaranteed to
receive the offering plate … however we want to move forward.
Meanwhile, we’ll also keep thinking of other ideas for those who might have
already applied to offering plate. I know Justin has mentioned the possibility
of having an organization apply for the Church Foundation, or another means.
More to come on that, I suppose.
Here’s who we have applied so far:
MicroGrants <http://www.microgrants.net/>
Northside Achievement Zone <http://northsideachievement.org/>
Clare Housing <http://clarehousing.org/> (*Disclaimer, I work as a part-time
employee for Clare Housing)
Pillsbury United Communities <https://www.puc-mn.org/>
Marnita’s Table <https://www.marnitastable.org/>
Juxtaposition Arts <http://juxtaposition.org/>
Sexual Violence Center <https://www.sexualviolencecenter.org/>
Tech Dump <http://www.techdump.org/>
Alliance for Metropolitan Stability <http://thealliancetc.org/>
Any other questions, let me know!
Thanks!

Hi Lukas,
I think that's a wonderful idea. Thank you for thinking of that. I know of at
least two organizations that may apply for the holiday gift that have already
been selected for the offering plate. So we may need to do something
different with them… Would love your thoughts on that.
In the meantime, how would you like to move forward with this?
Thanks again for reaching out. Looking forward to working with you on this.

Hi Dr. White!
I'm a member of the holiday giving team at First Universalist, and have been
iformed you're the contact person for the Community Investment Team.
We're in the process of gathering applicants to receive our Holiday Gift
this year. (In case you're not familiar: every other year, First
Universalist asks members to cut holiday spending in half, and we give the
resources toward an organization that works for racial justice).
We're expecting to have around ten applicants this year, and unfortunately
we will only select one to be the focus of our giving.
My question for you: Do you think your team would be interested in working
with us to "pre-approve" these organizations that aren't selected for the
holiday giving campaign to receive the church's offering for one week?
We could send you the full list of our applicants, so your team could do any
necessary reviews / vetting before moving forward.
My thought was that at least when we say to an organization they weren't
selected for the big gift ... maybe we could offer a little bit of good news
re: weekly campaign.
How does this sound? I'd love to chat more about any questions you might
have.
Thanks!!
Respectfully,
Lukas Udstuen
