Candice -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Strawder, Kay A (HHS/OPHS) [mailto:Kay.Strawder@xxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2010 7:36 AM To: undisclosed-recipients Subject: National Women's Health Week - May 9-15, 2010 Greetings: 2010 National Women's Health Week (NWHW) is a weeklong health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' OWH. NWHW empowers women to make their health a top priority. With the theme "It's Your Time," the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life. http://womenshealth.gov/whw. Collaborators are the heart of NWHW. A Collaborator is any organization that supports NWHW by holding a registered women's health activity at the regional, state or local level or online. This year, registered Collaborator events/activities can occur anywhere from April 9, 2010 through June 13, 2010. Here's what you can do to help to make this 2010 campaign a success both nationally and in Region IX: 1. Become a Collaborator by registering at least one event or activity on our website - it can be as simple as a table display of resource materials in the lobby of your office building or adding the NWHW logo to a website to more complex activities such as a health fair and screenings, "lunch and learn" session, etc. 2. Share this campaign with other potential Collaborators - 1.. Outreach to potential collaborators within Region IX using listservs, newsletters, meetings, etc.; 2.. Educate them about the purpose of National Women's Health Week; 3.. Inform them of the importance of this campaign and the role they can play in supporting this campaign; 4.. Encourage them to host at least one event or activity and to register it on the OWH website. http://womenshealth.gov/whw/my-account/sign-in.cfm; and, 5.. Inform them that after their event/activity is registered, they can order FREE educational materials for dissemination. (They should order items at least 3 weeks before the event/activity occurs.) I have attached a NWHW Collaborator Fact Sheet for your use. And, I have attached the order form for free "Women.Smokefree.gov" materials. As I learn about other great resources, I will let you know. Please let me know if you have any questions. As always, if you have problems registering your event, I will be happy to provide assistance. Thank you, in advance for your assistance. I believe this will be an outstanding year for this campaign. Warm regards, KAS Kay A. Strawder, J.D., M.S.W.
