I would like to request that we get a clarification about the length of time
that a car can be parked in the same spot. In the past, I think there was a
system of warnings that would be delivered over the course of multiple days,
but these days it seems like they get towed fast. I am not complaining about
that or questioning the rule, just asking for clarification so I know what to
tell people.
Also, I wonder if we can receive some kind of information about the volume of
cars parked on Hilliard. In 16+ years, it seems like within the last year or
so that Hilliard Street parking has ballooned in volume. It has always had the
potential to be cluttered during busy times (Dragon Con, Inman Park Festival,
Georgia Power construction, etc), but with the sustained high volume of cars
out there now it is even more necessary for residents to make proper use of
their own garages and driveways. Also, does anybody know what the rules are
for parking along Jackson Street?
One final note – I want to thank the Board for their time and their efforts at
increasing communication with us.

Subject: [highland-discuss] Re: Guest Parking Policy
Highland Community,
Residents should under no circumstances leave threatening notes for fellow
residents or apply towing stickers to resident's vehicles. Only courtesy
letters from the Board should be acknowledged.
The Board is currently discussing guest parking rules (including courtesy
letters), which will be voted on and communicated to the community in the
coming days.
That being said, guest parking is for guests, so please be mindful to your
neighbors.
Thank you,
The Highland Board

Hey Kai,
I am glad you brought this up. I have also experienced a similar situation with
one of my guests who parked for a little over 2 days a couple weekends ago. Her
car was actually towed from the marked visitor area. I felt so responsible
because I told her it would be fine for only the few days she was visiting so I
ended up paying for her fees. I don't know who is putting these notes or
calling the towing company but it doesn't seem right that anyone can call to
have a car towed at their own discretion.
I also would like to see an official statement and policy regarding the guest
parking spots from the association.
Thanks,
Jullian

Dear Neighbors,
Hello! Could someone explain what is the policy around guest parking and
usage? My wife works the night shift at Emory Hospital, and has parked a few
times in guest parking when there are several spots available cause she
return late at night.
Most recently, someone has been leaving notes threatening to tow her car. We
try not to make a habit of using the spots, but we noticed several other
neighboring residents who park in the guest spots also consecutively
throughout the week without any repercussions or notes on their vehicles.
Is there a policy regarding who is allowed to use guest parking? Can the
person threatening us actually tow our car?
Sorry to be a bother, but we just felt it was directly intended for us and
not anyone else.
Thank you and have a great day!
Regards,
Kai
