Good Morning,
As a reminder, installing residential equipment in a commercial setting will
void most warranties.

Subject: [highland-discuss] Re: Exercise Equipment Quotes
Hi Alex and Board,
Apologies on the delay, I have been dealing with my AC going out and a few
other items..
I would like to suggest an propose an alternative solution for consideration.
We are looking at spending $8K for a commercial grade treadmill and ensure the
lifespan of ~10 years. Meanwhile we have an out of order elliptical machine in
need of replacement and an even older treadmill that could go out any time.
There are commercial grade residential models that are available for
significantly less. I agree that our treadmills are in a shared community and
get more use than the average home unit, but I go to the gym here frequently
and they are not in use all day long like at an LA Fitness.
We could purchase two commercial grade treadmills for less than the price of
one of the proposed options. Benefits
- Two new treadmills instead of one would result in the use being distributed
more evenly across the two units; rather, than one treadmills being preferred
over the other
- They would match! This adds to the property aesthetic value and increase home
values to younger consumers attracted to this Atlanta neighborhood.
- They have the same warranty period (I'll need to double check that use in a
shared community does not void this warranty)
- If they only last half as long as a commercial model, they more than 50% less

- I looked up the best high-end treadmills... the best ranked life time fitness
commercial grade home model is $5500 and has a 10 year warranty

- I have read really good things about the NordicTrack commercial Treadmills as
well. They have the heavier duty belt and bigger motor and many other bells
and whistles for under $3k (they are having a sale)

I will call them in the morning to understand warranty at a shared property,
but we need to look at overall costs... $8K on a treadmill, while we still need
an eliptical, and may need a bike and second treadmill any day? Replace them
all with commercial grade home gym equipment and the use will be spread out
making them all last longer. PLUS no modification costs to the structure.
Thanks,
Stephen Perry

Hi everyone,
Kyle sent out quotes for exercise equipment-- 1 treadmill and 1
eliptical:
$7719.41 - Full Commercial / Innovative Fitness
$8,260.59 - Full Commercial / Fitness Equipment Sales
$10,874.19 - Full Commercial / Fitness Equipment Sales
$4,463.34 - Light Commercial / Innovative Fitness
$4,955.48 - Light Commercial / Fitness Equipment Sales
$6,015.28 - Light Commercial / Ready Fitness
I think it's a good idea to go with the full commercial models, because
the equipment will get a lot of use and it needs to last a long time.
The full commercial models seem to have 5 year warranties, as opposed to
the 2 year warranties for the light commercial.
One other thing to consider is that we need 20 amp circuits if we go
with the $7,719 quote. I'm not sure how the clubhouse is wired, but if
changes need to be made, it would cost well over $500 for the work. The
$10,874 quote only has a 3 year warranty. I think the $8,260 quote
looks the best.
Thanks,
Alex
