Hi All,
As you may have heard, the HHSC Board has not yet elected a successor to Ed
Funk, who chose not to continue as President and Board member (though he
continues to head up the Flight Center renovation and expansion project).
The Nominating Committee - Steve DeMartino, Bryan Riegal and myself - is
continuing to try and identify someone qualified and willing to serve as
President. In the meantime, all Board members are pitching in to ensure that
deadlines and responsibilities are met, with help and advice from such veterans
as Corky Gill and Rolf Beyer. Our financial status is positive, our membership
is strong, our aircraft are in good shape, we continue to have great support
from the County, and we’ve had a tremendous response on our capital campaign.
All in all, the state of the club is very good. While we certainly want to fill
our most important leadership position, we want to assure you that “we’re on
it” - things are going well.
As we all know, HHSC is a volunteer organization. One of our collective
responsibilities is to “step into the gap” when it appears. This has always
been a great strength of ours, and the Board is doing that now. But all club
members should consider it a responsibility to participate constructively in
the governing of our organization. If you have any comments or suggestions,
they will be appreciated and seriously considered. Please direct them to any
Nominating Committee member. Thanks for your interest and concern.
Peter
