Congratulations to the X2 team at Sikorsky for winning the Collier Trophy for demonstrating a revolutionary 250 knot helicopter!

Several members of the team fly/have flown at Harris Hill including Brian Cotton and Dave Walsh and Dave Horton.  Congrats to them for being part of the effort that won one of aviation's most prestigious awards and best of luck on development of the follow on design - the S-97 Raider.

In case you don't know what the big deal is, helicopter top speeds have historically been limited due to reduced airflow over the retreating blade at high forward speeds.  The X-2 solves this with coaxial blades that rotate in opposite directions and a pusher prop that supplements the main rotor for forward speed.

Lots of videos on youtube about it if you are interested.
