It was a fun day in the blue. Good flying with you guys.
I went to the Canadaigua cylinder but took care to stay over high ground in the
Bristol hills. There were no clouds so I used all ground-based features. I
found well drained (steep) hill sides facing the sun worked and so did the
south ends of the lakes where the cooler lake air formed barrier or some sort
of trigger to pop off the best thermals. I passed the Dansville gliderport and
chose the high ground route between the Hornell valley and the Dansville valley
to avoid the wet agricultural fields. After going deep in the Wellsville
cylinder things got softer on the way home so recognition of the fact and
patience were the keys.
A great first cross country flight at HHSC. What a beautiful place to fly!

Also, Andrew. We have have to give the SkyKing award to XC. Did a splendid
job completing the task.
Incidentally, for all, it was a turn area task with TPs Canandiagua &
Wellsville and 10 mile cylinders.

Enjoyed flying with you, Mo!! Tricky day for sure, I got down to 2600 over
Hornell but about 2 PM the day really turned on and the thermals after that
were fantastic. Really nice first XC flight of the season!
Great shot!

Yesterday was a beautiful blue day. Thermals were frustrating for this
pilot. Had to start my engine over the wind generator farms near Wayland
after the first turn at Canadaigua, then two times after. Not good. At 6k,
however, I managed to get a nice shot of Keuka Lake.
