Replaced the 10 yr old 5W polycrystalline solar panel (L) that was putting
out less than 300 mA (originally 480mA) into a 7Ah AGM bettery powering
the beacon (barely). Upgraded to a new 100W monocrystalline panel (R)
that puts out almost 4 Amps to a deep cycle marine battery to provide power
to beacon and other projects. My beacon uses approximately 350mA on full
duty cycle.
Beacon Maintenance: cleaned out cooling fan, replaced pico-keyer button
cell (average lifespan ~2 years), checked all connections, cables, and
breakers.
Here's to another 10 years!
