Hi Paul, beacons really can be a source of warm fuzzies, can't they? Mind an
old-fashioned paper QSL incoming, speaking of?
Eeks, do I have a CW contact in the log? That was a beacon spot, I'm fairly
sure. I'm still seeking a suitable 10 meter rig. I may be acquiring one from
one of my uncles, but that's dependent on whether or not he can get the thing
fired up and running; he hasn't messed with it in several years.

Carlie,
Glad to hear that you evaded the oncoming storm.
Also gratified to read that you finally heard my 10 Meter Beacon.
It's only been on the air for 8 months, but it is routinely spotted around the
world, even with the poor propagation that we have been having.
I also received an email yesterday from a ham in NC.
He heard my beacon and figured the band was open, and worked hams in my area
while mobile (SSB).
Fills my heart with pride, it does.
I see on QRZ that you have a 10 Meter CW contact in the log.
What model 10 Meter radio did you finally acquire to go with your straight key?
My set up is a Uniden President HR2510 running 6 watts to a vertical at about
35 feet.
I really should put that info on QRZ.

The E's are here! :D
Between 0042Z and 0130Z, I had:
W4AMA - Rainbow City, Alabama, USA
K5TLL - Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
WJ5O - Troy, Alabama, USA
K5AB - Goldthwaite, Texas, USA
K7OC - Dallas?, Texas, USA - new for me!
KE5JXC - Pecan Island, Louisiana, USA - new for me and yay! I've been chasing
this one!
AA1SU - Essex Junction, Vermont, USA - new for me, yay! Really been chasing
this one!
W5DXZ - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
K1SPD - LaVergne, Tennessee, USA
WA2DVU - Cape May, New Jersey, USA
N1FSX - Limon, Colorado, USA - tentative
And then I hurried down the hill and inside, to avoid the oncoming storm.
Light falling (from what I could tell), wind getting up, cooling and swirling,
and now thunder rumbles. Eeps!
I don't know what this says about propagation, other than that it's weirdly
wonderful.
