Charles:
You are only going to use the transmitter side of this Walkie Talkie.  You will
not have to worry about  the IF's as those are for the receiver side.  The
27.125 (ch 14) crystal is what will need to be changed to your direct beacon
frequency.  You can use the RF connector on the side of the radio but will need
to come up with a power supply and you will need to open it up and bypass the
PTT switch for your keying which you will have to build along with your ID'er.
You can hard wire the RF side as chances are it is also in the switch assembly
and the only thing you will be keying is the B+ to the transmitter. A schematic
that you can read would really assist you in the conversion.

If this were mine and I were doing this the last thing I would set this up
using the CB crystal and the last thing I would do would be to go an order a
crystal, proving that everything works and then move it up to the 10 meter
band.  The crystal is the most expensive item  and you will have to modify the
circuit a bit to add some sort of compensation to be able to adjust the crystal
to your precise frequency as the crystal ages.

Hi all,
I picked up a few Realistic TRC-213 2W HTs for the CB band.  I was thinking of
converting one for beacon use or 10m AM.  The problem is, how do I calculate
the IF frequency for it's 455 kHz IF amplifier?  It currently uses a 27.125 /
26.67 TX/RX crystal pairing.
Or am I just wasting my time and should part it out?
Thanks,
Charles
