Hi Iab,

Well, my comments didn't  come out as
I intended.  It really is a pleasure doing this, and I too appreciate the logs
from Dieter, Bill, and everyone else who posts.  Obviously, being retired
offers the opportunity to listen regularly.  The real reason for the park trips
is exercise for the XYL, the hounds, and this old man.  Monitoring is an
entertaining diversion.

As for "guts" those come into play in March.  25C temps here with severe
sunshine beats -10C any day, Hi!

Chuck:

I read your log every day. It tells me if my two beacons are running, as I am
thousands of miles away. Thanks for the postings. It takes guts to go out in
the desert every day to listen.
I will add my two cents on the A99. Since I changed the two beacons from
dipoles to A99s, the signal reports have really jumped. For $75 on Amazon it
is a real deal. Just cut 9” off the top. They radiate well almost sitting at
ground level and really perform if you can get them up 16’. Use a metal pipe
to support them, as it acts as a ground plane.
