When I get chance I’ll look through the rest of 1978 when I get chance, Chris.

Hi Chris. I've got 1977 index book but haven't noticed any entries on Dutch Elm
Disease.
Peter Mills has my laptop now and I'm hoping to get it back by the end of the
month.

Hi Tony,
No problem with how long it takes – in fact we’re far further ahead than I
thought we would be by now! The index is already being regularly used here –
not least by the museum itself that requested details of the opening back in
1961 for its forthcoming 60th anniversary exhibition!
Accuracy has got to be paramount over speed so take as long as it needs.
However I think when you are ready you will be able to get the next batch of
books.
One request I’ve had though, if those working on the corresponding volumes can
help, is for photographs I took in 1977 or ’78 of trials injecting fungicide in
the elms in Farnham Park to try to kill the Dutch Elm Disease. If anybody can
spot them easily please can you let me have details so I can retrieve the
relevant negatives. Thanks.
Chris

Thanks Chris. I’ll await an update on the position re photocopying.
Progress is slow I’m afraid on the transcribing - at the moment I’m not even
half way through 1978.
It has been busy lately with work as well as other computer-related
distractions getting in the way.

Hi Tony,
Yes I wondered about that but the option just isn’t there in Outlook on Windows
10. But by Ctrl-C copying I can open a new image from the clipboard in
Photoshop – bit slow but it works.
By the way Josh and Sam are now back and you should be able to get access to
the index books again – I’m going in tomorrow to check a couple of numbers I
need in the 1877-8 book.

Hi Chris
Re seeing the images – I don’t know if it is the same in MS Windows but I found
in OSX that if I Right click the image in the original email, you can choose to
‘Open’ in the image viewer, which I can then expand for close up viewing.
Interestingly I can’t do that on this forwarded version, I only get the save
option.

Hi Karen,
First is it possible for you to attach the screenshots as then I can zoom them
in Photos? Currently I’m having to copy and paste them into Photoshop in order
to enlarge them.
The first is Pageantry in Flowers and I think “Eleven Crowns” – sorry my
writing isn’t very good!
Number two is Telephone Exchange.
H/S is photographer’s shorthand for head and shoulders.
I think the last is a badly written “Fox & Styles”. I seem to remember they
were an estate agents.
Chris
PS fingers crossed for the laptop.
