You know, another big info need we have for hellbender awareness is the whole
"don't move the rocks" thing. For a long time I've wanted to look into working
with not just fishing outfitters, but also like river tubing rental places to
generate more awareness among recreationists who damage habitat just by being
in it. Developing some materials geared towards that group and then investing
in reaching out to outfitters I think would be a good project.

Subject: PARC Hellbender Group Hellbender Task Team Meeting - SEPARC 2020
Hi all,
SEPARC is upon us! If you have not received any SEPARC related emails, the
meeting will be happening at the end of February and registration is open. As
usual, the Hellbender Task Team will be getting together to discuss the
hellbender Conservation Management Plan, share updates, and discuss future
projects. This year there will be two break-out sessions for task teams to meet
- Friday and Saturday with each lasting 1h to 1.5h. I will send out more
details once the final agenda is out.
We are currently working on task team agenda and selecting topics for our short
meeting – please let us know if there are any topics you would like to cover or
discuss with the group.
Also SEPARC has some extra funds to help task teams with getting products
together and out. For example, the disease task team created ranavirus
information cards last year and SEPARC is paying for printing fees. This is a
fantastic opportunity for us to get some hellbender products developed. Any
ideas? Small information cards for outfitter/fishing stores are the first thing
that come to mind.
I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and I look forward to seeing you
in a couple of months.
Best,
Jeronimo
