Has anyone noticed that Tosca is now being performed with Maria
Guleghina in the title role? I found this interesting, due to the
significance of the opera in both the film Heavenly Creatures and the
lives of Paul and Juliet. The name it the thing:
Maria (fem of Mario, as in St Mario, and of course, Tosca's lover)
Gule (Julie) ghina (Gina)!
I cannot wait to attend! It's all frightfully romantic, don't you
think?
