Hi everybody -
I made a quick drive up VA 45 this a.m. to see the previously reported
Loggerhead Shrike; it was still there at about 9:30. Looks like decent
breeding habitat for the species....
In the late 1990s a pair of shrikes nested at the Farmville airport, i.e.
in southern Cumberland County (I have field notes but have not put the
record in eBird yet). As far as I know the current bird is the first
Cumberland County record since then; if anyone knows of others it would be
great to have them added to eBird.
